Purchased this swaddle/blanket for our daughter during slightly colder Southern California winters (inside our house only gets as low as 69°). For that purpose, this was a great little cover for her! It's very soft inside and actually fairly thick--you can tell it's good quality materials).The packaging was very nice, so this can definitely be gifted but we are using this for our own baby.It does have velcro closures on each side of the hips to hold the flap above the legs (see images) and another velcro strip on the front to fasten the swaddle. It has held up to being washed on the cold/warm setting of our washer and line dried 4 times already with no change to stitching, size, or fabric. So it doesn't seem to shrink. The tag says you can tumble dry low but with any sherpa-like fabrics, we always line dry and that seems to keep the fabric from matting up.Some considerations: if you're looking for a tight swaddle, this is not it. The velcro on the front is small compared to a regular swaddle, and even though our baby is very big for her age, it was a relatively loose fit. However, that does mean it is great for layering, especially for people who live in colder climates and want to add more underneath this. Also, I really wish the length took into consideration babies who are at the higher end of the growth spectrum for their age. At 2.5 months, my daughter was 25 inches long so even the 3-6 month swaddle was too short. We can put the hood over her head since theres some stretch to the fabric but you can see that it's pulling and I just dont want to make my baby feel like she's in tight clothes when it's time to rest. Max length for the 3-6 month swaddle is 23 inches, as noted in the product description. Unfortunately my baby was measured at the doctor's office right after we received this and washed it though :( BUT we did find a workaround by just letting her head rest on top of the hood (it's long enough that it acts like an added "pillow cushion" layer when folded down flat) as you can see in the photos so we still let her sleep in this teddy bear swaddle most nights!

I'm in love with this already. Baby's not born yet, so haven't been able to use this. But it's super soft and sturdy. If it's important to you, only the inner lining is organic cotton. The exterior shell is recycled polyester. Also, not sure if this will change when it gets cooler and drier, but this faux sherpa doesn't seem to generate static electricity like similar fabrics. The only thing in my happy with is the fact that mine came without the velcro tabs that secure the bottom flap up. I'm contemplating whether to exchange this being so close to my due date. I did buy 2 additional in larger size and hope they will have the velcro closure when they arrive. I would have given this 5 stars were it not for that oversite.
This item came quickly. It is amazingly soft and looks well made. It is a gift for my soon to be here great granddaughter. With colder weather approaching soon after her entry into this world I hope it will keep her warm.

Soft and warm are needed for babies
This was a shower gift that recipient had registered for. It didn’t look like it was worth what it cost. Cheap looking. I went to a local store and bought a nightgown to add because this one gift just looked cheap although it wasn’t.

I gave this for my grand daughter who was only 5 days old. It is not only super cute , soft and well made, but it makes carrying her alot easier and she can stretch her legs and feet without feeling trapped. My daughter says its the best gift ever!
